Hilson’s debut album In a Perfect World… entered the charts at number 4 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. From the album four singles have been released, “Energy”, “Return the Favor” featuring Timbaland, “Turnin’ Me On” featuring Lil Wayne, and “Knock You Down” featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo. To date, the most successful single has being the current one. “Knock You Down” reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 2 on R&B/Hip-Hop 100. On May 18^th, the single became Hilson’s first to reach number one in New Zealand. Anyone can see that Hilson has achieved success with her album, but the real question is does the Hip-Hop/R&B industry recognize this?

The answer is yes, as Hilson has been nominated for four BET Awards including: Best Female R&B Artist, Best Collaboration-“Turnin Me On” featuring Lil Wayne, Best New Artist, and Viewers Choice Award-“Turnin Me On featuring ME on featuring Lil Wayne. The Bio

After writing songs for the likes of well known artists such as Britney Spears, Ciara, Usher, Ludacris, and Mary J. Blige since 2001, 26-year old Keri Hilson finally has the opportunity to write for herself.

Keri Hilson born on October 27, 1982 in Decatur, Georgia, a city just a few miles from Atlanta. Hilson taught herself how to write songs at age 12 and by 18 was able to arrange songs complete with vocals and engineering sessions. Soon, Hilson met producer Polow da Don, who began talking with Timothy ‘Timbaland’ Moses about her potential. Timbaland wanted to meet Keri Hilson and in 2006 he signed her to his Mosley Music imprint.

Before releasing In a Perfect World…, Hilson was known for being a part of The Clutch, a collective of song writers based in Atlanta, Georgia that also includes Candice Clotiel “Gg” Nelson, Ezekiel L “(E)Zeke” Lewis, Patrick Michael “J. Que” Smith, and Balewa Muhammad. The Clutch is responsible for several chart-topping singles including, Omarion’s “Ice Box“, Ciara’s “Like A Boy“, Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” and Britney Spears‘ “Radar“. Hilson was also featured on several singles before releasing one of her own. The most popular of those singles include, Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” and “Scream” and Nas’ “Hero”. Hilson’s talent is evident and on March 24, 2009, this was made known to the entire music world.

Currently, Keri Hilson is on the road with Keyshia Cole and Bobby Valentino as part of Cole’s A Different Me Tour. A recent glance at Hilson’s YouTube channel revealed that the artist just had a photo shoot with Wet Seal. Pictures from the shoot are set to be seen at over 350 store locations in the U.S.
